daytrip jr.
Our friends told us to check out Daytrip Society while in Kennebunkport. An amazing shop for sure but when I found out they also had a kid's shop around the corner well, it would be an understatement to say that I was more than excited.
crayon roll up
Today I needed to make something. Anything.
I had a small window of time with my sewing machine. I started with a bag in mind but then I thought of something else.
In preparation of our upcoming travels east and the simple fact that as a mom I always have crayons in my bag, I decided to make a canvas crayon roll up.
I labeled each one-inch pocket with the color and name using my trusty sharpies. This makes it more than just a handy storage case, it's also a matching game! We love matching games.
Whenever the little miss sees writing on objects she starts calling out letters. This will be just one more step in familiarizing her with words and colors.
"Whooooaaaaaa!" she said (imagine a deep raspy, drawn out whoa with her lips in a perfect oval) when she saw it. Yes, I think she likes it.
Sure beats carrying around a zip lock bag of crayons. This is much cuter.
sock bunny in a tutu
This is where my inspiration came from for my {egg}bunny in a tutu. When I was little my mom made these sock bunnies and sold them at craft fairs. I remember both my sister and I had one hanging down from our ceiling like a magic fairy. My nostalgic self begged her to make them once again.
If you know someone who would like one she is making them to sell! They are available with various color tutus and coordinating ribbons hanging from their sparkly star wand. Email me at gatherandnest@gmail.com
a sweet little apron
Look at how cute this fabric is! I will forever be a fan of Japanese import fabric. It always makes me smile. Clementine has been OBSESSED with cupcakes. I ask her what she would like for lunch and she replies in a sweet sort of drawn out way, "cup-cake".
It's so cute I often want to give in, but of course she'll have to eat her broccoli first.
As soon as I saw this print I knew it was destined for an apron. What better occasion that Valentine's Day to make it for the little miss?!
This was one of those easy patterns that you can buy off the rack at the fabric store.
I love how ruffly the skirt is and I dolled it up even more with some red and white polka dot ric rac.
Perfect to go along with this play cupcake set!
And one for her little friend, too.
from your little love bird
Making Valentines!
Trace your little one's hand and cut it out to use as the wing on your little love bird.
These are very easy to make and involve googly eyes which are always fun!
Cut out a heart shape for the head, a small heart for the beak and a bird shaped body.
Glue the pieces together.
This is super cute as is or you could add a photo!
