a blanket for happy days

new-blanketHurray for Japanese import fabric!  I love this print from cosmo textiles. I decided to make a blanket with this happy print on one side to make us smile when we look at it and a super soft side that will be plush and lovely against baby's skin. fuzzy-side

Just a 36 inch square. Perfect for the stroller, crib, play yard, or just hanging out on the floor.

Handmade with Love...An Owl Quilt

Little did I know that when I asked my mother to help me sew on the owls to my tablecloth, thinking it was such a great idea that I came up with, she had already hand sewn many owls on this fantastic quilt she made for her granddaughter. It's a quilted replica of the shower invitation! I think it's pretty funny that 3000 miles away from each other our two similar but separate owl projects were started. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

This is what the back of my baby shower invite looked like from Polka Dot Press...

A work in progress... The cutest owl tablecloth

owl Some pregnant ladies arrive at their baby showers refreshed, glowing, and treated like the guest of honor that they are. Not me. I love to plan a party. I just can't help it! Inspired by the baby shower invitations my mother sent out I offered to make a tablecloth. Ok, insisted. She knows me too well to argue with me about it so I am currently working on what I hope to be the cutest owl table cloth ever. Of course I have great ideas for the coordinating decorations. Is it strange to decorate your own baby shower?!

I still have some baby owls to cut out and then I have to figure out the placement and sew them down. A work in progress with a week to finish. Check back to see the final 'masterpiece'!

Mama needs a brand new bag!

We are heading to Mexico for a little fun in the sun.  I needed a bag that I could take from the beach to the town. Something that would resist the sand and water but would also be nice to look at. So I thought I would make one!

The fabrics:

A bright orange floral pattern oil cloth, orange rip stop nylon with a nice honeycomb pattern for the lining, and a black and white dot print that I thought would make an interesting accent pocket.

The pieces are ready to be sewn together...

Just need to push the lining inside the bag.

Cute pocket!

The final step is to topstitch all the way around on the ol' singer.

Voila...a new bag!
