kitty cabin

While perusing Daily Candy this morning I came across this Loyal Luxe kitty cabin. It seemed only appropriate to share this considering I’ve been on a bit of a woodland cardboard kick.

Oh My! Are you kidding me? This is amazing! Click on the picture to get the whole tour and demonstration. It’s funny how even if you’re not a cat lover, kittens can make you smile and say, “Awwww. Cute!”

If only Weezie was a little smaller!

Happy Birthday to my love!

imaginary dinner with a wooden fork and knife

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

What a lovely table setting…and dinner looks so delicious. If only it was as easy to pull together as flipping through pages of a magazine and pointing to what you want and having it appear on your plate, in the comfort of your own home, 1-2-3 Presto! No, I did not have anything like this last night. We were much too tired to fire up the grill to make a roasted tomato salad, corn on the cob, flounder with citrus and herbs, or grilled pineapple. How I love grilled pineapple. No, we opted for the EZ button which is, of course, the rotisserie chicken from the market. Apparently I am not the only person who falls back on this because when I arrived at the section where the golden birds sit, keeping warm and toasty, waiting for the nice, hungry, lazy (oh, I mean busy!) family to take it home, I found nothing but a long line of women like myself. Waiting. Yes, I waited in the chicken line. I have never done anything like this before. How one’s life changes over the years.

I digress.

Look at these lovely wooden forks and knives! I am such a sucker for packaging as well as for anything unusual to set a table or make a picnic more fun; I had to get them.

you are pretty

Love these letterpress notecards from Studio SloMo.

It’s so nice to get mail. Real handwritten mail with a stamp and a postmark. The kind where someone sat down with a pen in their hand thinking of you and actually wrote out their thoughts, maybe even crossed out a word because of a mistake. In real mail there is no spell check. There is no delete. Just pure present emotion. Now imagine getting that lovely letter and opening the envelope and seeing these three words: You are pretty.

Well, that just makes me smile right there.

It’s nice to send a compliment.

Especially on a Monday.

Available here.

i heart the mod dog

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Just received Weezie’s new dog collar in the mail. Love it!

So happy to have found  The Mod Dog while browsing on etsy.

Miss Mod Dog has quite a collection of fantastic ribbon with which she adorns all of her lovingly made custom collars.

This ribbon is a European import which she calls shroom hollow. There were so many cute patterns to choose from. I had red on the brain so I went with this which will look especially cute on Weezie. However, I didn’t see Squirrels just want to have fun which would only be appropriate.  I’ll have to order that one too, I mean c’mon, all girls (even dogs) need a choice of accessories!

Eggnog like the Griswold’s

moose-mugAhhhh, nothing makes holiday eggnog taste better than drinking it from a moose mug!

I ordered these last year from canadianmoose.com.

It makes for the Hap-hap-happiest Christmas…

bacon peanut brittle. yes, bacon.

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Say what? Smoky bacon in the peanut brittle? Yes, it’s true.

I’m a sucker for packaging and also for sweet things involving bacon so when I read about this on a local shop’s monthly email I bundled up the baby, put her in the stroller, leashed up the dog and away we went. There was bacon peanut brittle to buy!

The name is clever and the packaging is well done. And how was the peanut brittle? Let’s just say that bacon is listed before peanut in the name of this treat so it’s not a subtle hint of bacony goodness here. Quite an adventure for your tastebuds as they become overwhelmed by a certain smokiness and then find their way to the peanut and the sweet, salty, chewy sensation your brain associates with peanut brittle. It’s pretty serious stuff. Definitely a must for the adventurous bacon lover in your life. These packages are a perfect stocking stuffer size!

Check out their websight Sir Francis Bacon Peanut Brittle to find out where you can get some.

In Portland? Head to Foster & Dobb’s on NE 15th!

ufo-grill1Unidentified Grilling Object! From a futuristic culinary galaxy far away this cute little pod found it’s way to our picnic.

Now we can BBQ on the go in style!

grill11Ok, so maybe it didn’t just land on the grass and crash our picnic. We found this sweet little grill by Contento at Anthropologie. Designed far, far away in Germany. Love the wooden details and two-toned lime green color.
